What better way to toast the happy couple than with a glass of bubbly?

When it comes to choosing what champagne you have for your wedding can be determined by a number of factors: budget, whether the venue stocks a certain kind, however most establishments tend to house the most popular of brands.

Here are brief descriptions of the champagne brands according to the Times:

Billecart-Salmon
Smallest of the so-called grandes marques. Its taste is lacy lightness and refinement – whether white or rose.
Price: £25 for the non-vintage

Bollinger
Family owned and run. Its taste is full bodied, complex and pinot noir – based
Price: £30

Canard-Duchene
Particularly popular with the French. Its taste is light-bodied, fruity, slightly sweet
Price: £22

Charles Heidsieck
Sophisticated older sibling of Piper-Heidsieck, mature, serious and complex. Its taste is the non-vintage Brut Reserve is rich yet dry, with classic butter and vanilla brioche flavours

Cristal
Vintage champagne drunk by film stars, supermodels, pop stars, footballers etc. Its taste is made from slightly higher proportion of pinot noir than chardonnay

Dom Perignon
Launched by Moet in 1936. Moet sells four times more than Krug and six times as much as Cristal. Its taste is seductive creamy taste and satin-smooth texture.

Heidsieck Monopole
One of the cheapest of the famous names. You get what you pay for. Its taste is simple, fruity, frothy

Krug
Has always been old money, Rolls Royce feel. Its taste is deep, rich, complex and dry. It is fermented in small oak casts.

Lanson
Non-vintage Black Label can be seen at Wimbledon, the Albert Hall and premier football matches. Its taste is crisp, dry, relatively neutral

Laurent-Perrier
Largest family-owned champagne house. Its rose has made pink champagne fashionable and respectable. Its taste is dry and crisp

Understated parent of Cristal, Family-owned and run. Its taste is pure and fine boned, with a deep, biscuity flavour.

Moet & Chandon
Found at some of the most glamorous parties. Its taste is soft, round, easy drinking style

Young, thrusting brand. Its taste is fresh, moderately fruity but not memorable

Not just a pretty face, utterly seductive. Its taste is elegant, creamy, Floral

A vinyl corset clad bottle designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier, Its taste is fresh, fruity and companionable

Prince William’s favourite. Its taste is polished, poised and firm with floral creamy flavours

The oldest champagne house and produces extremely good champagnes. Its non-vintage taste is fresh, with buttery, biscuity richness

Stylish and aimed at clubbers. Its taste is very elegant

White Wine...
When it comes to serving wine at the reception it is best togive the option of red or white wine. If you don’t know what wine is best served with which food then take a note of the following:

Chardonnay
Taste: Fruity aroma with flavours of lemon or grapefruit
Food: Chicken and fish

Gewurztraminer
Taste: Spicy aroma and fruity flavours of peach, apricot and tropical fruits. Can be dry or sweet.
Food: Spicy dishes, pork sausages.

Pinot Grigio
Taste: Light and crispy with alomond, lemon and vanilla
Food: Seafood and salmon

Sauvignon Blanc
Taste: Grassy citrus aroma, apple, pear, green tea and limes.
Food: Salads, poultry, seafood and cheeses

Riesling
Taste: Floral aroma. California Riesling is sweet. German Riesling is slightly sweet with some acidity,

Food: teamed with most foods

Cabernet Sauvignon (Ca-burr-ney so-veen-yawn)

Food: best with simply prepared red meat

Pinot Noir (Pee-know Na-wahr)
Taste: very fruity (cherry, strawberry, plum) delicate and fresh
